Freesia bears elegant flowers on slender,
curved spikes above fans of small gladioluslike leaves. They are noted for
their abundant delicate fragrance. Trumpet shaped blooms are available in
white, yellow, gold, orange, pink ,red, or violet. Many are bicolored and some
are double. They are great in containers or in gardens. They grow 12 to 18
inches tall. Hardy to about 20 degrees for outside planting and in well drained
soil. Plant pointed ends up, 5 inches deep and 2 to 3 inches apart. |
