There are many varieties of calla lilies
available. In the fall, the large white calla lilies(Zantedeschia aethiopica)
and the 'Green Goddess' calla lilies are avaiable for planting. The other
colorful calla lilies are available in the late winter/early spring for
planting. Zantedeshcia aethiopica - White Calla Lily - This calla is the
largest of the calla lilies, growing up to 4 feet tall. Plant in full sun in
coastal areas and part sun in hotter inland areas. Grows outdoors in USDA Zones
8 -10. Plant 2 - 3 inches deep and 12 inches to 2 feet apart in the garden.
They are great as cut flowers. 'Green Goddess Calla Lily' - This is a unique
calla lily with white centers flushed with green and broad green tips. It grows
a little smaller than the regular white calla lily. Great in pots. Grows in
Zones 9 -11. Plant 2-3 inches deep and 12 inches apart. |
